K Type Thermocouple Connectors - Miniature and Standard Thermocouple Plugs, Thermocouple Jacks - manufactured by TC
Miniature Type K Thermocouple Connectors
Type K miniature connectors are intended for the interconnection of type K thermocouples and associated thermocouple wire and instrumentation. They consist of polarised flat pins made from chromel and alumel (for k type thermocouples). The connector body is yellow as per ANSI color codes for type-k and they are capable of operating up to 425ºF. For higher temperatures we have connectors made from a high temperature thermosetting plastic or ceramic versions available.
They are available as a plug, jack / thermocouple socket or panel mount jack in different variaants as well as being available in 3-pin, pcb mounting and duplex versions versions. We also offer a range of matching anodised aluminium and stainless steel miniature connector panels along with a wide range of connector accessories such as cable clamps, probe supports and cable inserts.

Type K standard connectors are used to connect a type-k thermocouple probe to thermocouple cable or extension wires, then on to the reference junction and the instrumentation concerned. The connectors allow for rapid fitting or exchange of sensors without sacrificing thermocouple conductor uniformity. Although the simplest of thermocouples end in bare wires (as found in many laboratory and industrial/research applications, for example), there are many other applications where a connector is usually desirable to make life easier.
We manufacture miniature and standard size thermocouple connectors which are available for use with all common thermocouple types and for use with copper conductors in applications involving resistance thermometers. For thermocouple applications, thermocouple grade alloys are incorporated in the contact parts of the connector. This avoids the generation of unwanted EMFs if the connector is not held at uniform temperature.
The connector is usually used to connect the thermocouple sensor to thermocouple or extension cables, then on to the reference junction and the instrumentation concerned. The connectors allow for rapid fitting or exchange of sensors without sacrificing thermocouple conductor uniformity. Plug and jacks are designed so that their installation can be made simply and securely, with designed-in locking mechanisms. Plugs and jacks are polarized by size and are usually marked for negative and positive polarity. Although there is no standard as such, connectors are generally pin compatible with devices from several manufacturers.
In general, although connector bodies for thermocouples are colour coded in accordance with the thermocouple standards (ANSI MC96.1), bodies of the higher temperature rated devices are coloured brown or white (depending on maximum temperature), irrespective of their thermocouple code. Bodies are then marked with their thermocouple type letter only.
Accessories include connector panels (standard and miniature), for stacking of jacks in multiple thermocouple applications, and barrier terminal strips. The latter have lugs marked to identify both alloy and polarity, and are available for most of the common standard types of thermocouple as well as copper wires for resistance thermometers.
