Beaded Thermocouple (Type 1)

General Purpose Thermocouples - Beaded Wire Thermocouples

Our Type 1 thermocouples are a simple welded bead thermocouple made from bare wire or insulated wire with a welded junction. Various wire sizes are available with the junction welded in an inert argon atmosphere. Type 1 assemblies are available in thermocouple types K, T, J, N, E, R, S, B, G, C and D.

What are the applications of beaded thermocouples?

Beaded thermocouples are suitable for attachment to surfaces and are ideal where a quick and simple installation is required. They have an almost instant response to changes in temperature and can be easily attached using adhesive tape, epoxy resin, underneath a washer or gently clamped in place. They also excel as simple air temperature sensors due to their very fast response times and PFA insulated Type 1 thermocouples can also be used for measuring the temperatures of liquids, oils and acids (some restrictions do apply when measuring liquids, please contact us for application advice).

Beaded thermocouples can be fitted with a miniature or standard thermocouple plug for easy connection to thermocouple instrumentation.

Ceramic Insulated Beaded Thermocouple Inserts

Thermocouple insert or element with beaded junction We also manufacture a range of beaded thermocouple inserts (elements) which have ceramic insulators and are designed to fit inside a protective metal sheath. These are known as Type 2 thermocouples.
